Jar of Dreams

Story line: For as long as she can remember, Lucy Dolan has been jotting down her hopes on slips of paper and saving them in a pickle jar—her jar of dreams. It was the first thing she saved when the beloved family diner went up in flames, and it's safely buckled in her beat-up minivan when she lands in Taft, Indiana, to start over. She rents a room and goes into business with her landlady, but then Gert's nephew comes charging in to "rescue" his aunt. Boone Brennan will be damned if he'll let Lucy take advantage of Aunt Gert, who raised him and his sister. Believing that she's just passing through, he's deeply suspicious of her—despite the sparks that fly between them. Just as Boone and Lucy are starting to open up to each other, a series of fires throws Lucy under suspicion. Vorrei iniziare col dirvi che questo libro è stato davvero un percorso ad ostacoli. Nonostante io legga in inglese da quasi 12 anni, ho avuto serie difficoltà. Quando ho cominciato Jar Of Dreams avevo delle aspettative enormi, venivo da One more Summer e non vedevo l’ora di leggere altri lavori della Flaherty. Non mi è piaciuto tanto quanto OMS ma anche JOR è un piccolo capolavoro. La cosa che più stupisce dei lavori della Flaherty è la minuziosità dei particolari. Tu credi di leggere una Romance Novel in realtà ti ritrovi sommerso nella storia di una città, dei suoi abitanti, delle loro relazioni e di una famiglia tutta particolare. Ho imparato ad amare tantissimo l’ospitalità di Taft e la sua accettazione per Lucy ma non sono rimasta altrettanto affascinata da quanto fosse difficile all’inizio per Boone e Kel. Una cosa che proprio non sono riuscita a capire è il rapporto tra Boone e Crockett. Forse alcuni particolari mi sfuggono ma il loro allontanamento mi è sembrato davvero futile in certi passi. A volte anche il rapporto tra Boone e Lucy lascia spazio a molte interpretazioni ma la verità che è molto realistico e la loro crescita non lascia spazio ad alcuna amarezza, anche quando non sembra esserci speranza. Tre stelline anche se credo dipendano più dalla mia ignoranza che da altro . Grazie mille a Carina Press e a NetGalley per questa fantastica opportunità.
